Housing development with attached living units - each of rectangular flan of squares with certain corner and possibly other squares omitted

The development comprises a number of living units (e.g. as fig.) which are connected via party walls into one of a number of patterns. The plan of each unit consists of a number of squares (1-6) of equal size arranged to form a rectangle (as shown). One square (5) on at least one corner of this rectangle, and possibly one or more adjacent squares, are omitted. The plan may be an equilateral rectangle (i.e. square) consisting of nine squares, e.g. having squares at diagonally opposite corners omitted. The squares may be 3m x 3m. Different configurations of such developments are illustrated.
