The invention relates to a device for chemically controlling weeds by contact by means of preparing a concentrated solution of the control means and conveying this solution to a multiplicity of extended, flexible and downwardly directed coating members 23 which are arranged relative to each other laterally. The solution is conducted to at least one delimited, longitudinal part of the outer surface of the coating members 23 in order, at that point, to produce a surface layer of the solution and to move the coating members 23 along the ground such that they are brought into contact with the above-soil parts of weeds 7 which are growing on the ground in order to coat these weeds with control means from the said surface layer.
