Synthetic leather from waste leather fibres - mixed with vegetable, animal or synthetic fibres

Mfr. of synthetic leather from comminuted scrap leather fibres by addn. of =10 wt. % of cellulose fibres (from sources other than wood), animal or synthetic fibres and milling to 20-70 degrees Schopper-Riegler (SR) fineness. At least 5(10-60) wt. % natural and/or synthetic latex is then added, coagulated on the fibres and the mixt. formed to shape. Used as inner soling materials in mfr. of shoes. The material can absorb large amts. of moisture with neglible dimensional charge. Excellent resistance to perspiration, and resistance to microbial attack together with plastic deformation properties giving increased foot comfort. Pref. the added fibres are of cotton or bast (e.g. linen or jute) or their mixts., esp. cotton carding waste. Synthetic fibres are pref. polyamide, polyester, polyacrylonitrile, polyolefine, PVC or polyvinyl alcohol, and suitable animal fibres, are of wool.
