The novel compound guaiacol N-acetyl-4-thiazolidinecarboxylate of the formula I IMAGE has a bronchial secretion-stimulating, mucolytic and antitussive activity and is at the same time distinguished by favourable pharmacokinetic date. At the same time, a process for its preparation is claimed in which N-acetyl-4-thiazolidinecarboxylic acid is esterified with guaiacol.
