SHORT DESCRIPTION The present invention relates to the manufacture of nitroparaffins in homogeneous gaseous phase by nitration of ethane. The nitration is conducted in the presence of a carrier active agent of an NO or NO2 easily transferable. The method is particularly applicable to the production of nitro-methane in high yields.
