DOCUMENT FEEDER SYSTEM HAVING ASUSPENDING/COMMENCING MODE WITH AJUDGMENT DECISION CAPABILITYABSTRACTDisclosed herein is a document feeder system, inter-faced with a copier system, comprising, inter alia, asemi-automatic document feeder (SADF), an automaticdocument feeder (ADF), a prior task document judgmentqueue and an associated logic control system thatallows the suspending of a prior task being run oneither of the foregoing document feeders and thecommencing of a subsequent or urgent task on any oneof the other foregoing document feeders. This feedersuspending/commencing mode is carried out with ajudgment decision capability based on judgment criteriaconsisting of the combination of certain predeterminedprior and subsequent tasks information. Thus, when anurgent task operator selects a feeder suspending/commencing mode button, a single control panel isinstantly made available so that the urgent task copyquantity and feature selections can be made. Afterthe foregoing is accomplished, a judgment decision ismade as whether to finish the copying of the originalBO979005document on the document viewing glass and eject itinto a prior task exit pocket and then enable thechosen urgent task feeder, or whether to feed theoriginal document on the document viewing glass to theprior task document judgment queue for storage andsubsequent feeding back onto the document viewingglass after the urgent task is completed. Whicheverdecision is made, the prior task status is retainedfor recall without having to reformat the singlecontrol panel. Accordingly, when the urgent task iscompleted, the urgent task operator de-selects thefeeder suspending/commencing mode button therebycausing the copy quantity and feature selections ofthe prior task to be reentered into the single controlpanel and the recommencing of the prior task withoutfurther operator intervention.BO979005
