This process comprises reacting the trisdimethylaminophosphine with an alcohol of the formula H (OC2H4) n OH in the presence of carbon tetrachloride to form the monosalt chloride oxyphosphonium of the formula H (OC2H4) n OP + (NMe 2) 3, Cl - by operating in a medium in which the glycol is soluble and wherein the mono-salt precipitate and has a sufficiently low temperature so that monosalt chloride is stable; to substitute the chloride anion by another anion in order to obtain a stable mono-salt has a temperature above 0 C; to perform a nucleophilic substitution on the oxyphosphonium salt of polyoxyethylene glycol thus formed by an alcoholate of formula RzCH2OM. Application: non-ionic surfactants.
