A reinforcing insert (2) consisting, for example, of glass fibres, is provided in the hollow insulator wall (1) which consists of predominantly filled casting resin. This reinforcing insert (2) has a weak point (3) which is preferably constructed as an interruption and preferably runs transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis (4) of the hollow insulator.
