The contact assembly has a linear support body with retaining apertures and an insulator with a number of through sockets, axially aligned with the apertures in the support body. Through the socket extend contact elements whose intermediate regions are held against the inner walls of the sockets by friction. The contact elements lower regions are rigidly secured in the apertures of the support body. Preferably these regions of the contact elements have a press fit with these apertures. Above the intermediate regions of the contact elements may be provided a flat region for engagement of the respective retaining contact element. A lower part may engage the region secured in the support body, while protruding through the same.
