The continuous cavities of blocks are filled with foam in order to improve the heat-insulating properties. For this purpose, the blocks are placed, with an opening side downwards, onto a conveyor belt, which has been coated beforehand with a layer of sand. In this manner, adhesion of the reaction mixture, to be introduced, or of the resulting foam to the conveyor belt is avoided. The upper surface of the blocks may also be sprinkled with granular material (sand), as a result of which better adhesion to the mortar when laying the blocks is achieved.
