The safety arresting mechanism is fitted between rail and cross arm profiles serving as cap, and hydraulic or friction props, and is esp. applicable to door frame support systems in underground coal mining. Between cap and prop a pressure plate lies on the prop head and is connected to a flat steel bar which grips the bottom flange of the cap on one side, and strikes against the cross arm stem of the cap. The other bar can be bent over in a claw shape, and peripherally welded to the plate, it can be pressed from sheet metal, and riveted onto the plate, and can have a vertical slot for a fishplate screw.
