The imbalance of vehicle wheels is mreaured whilst they are fitted on the vehicle. The raised wheel is driven and the imbalance forces or vibrations are evaluated to determine the magnitude and direction of the imbalance. The balance wt. to be placed on the wheel may be determined directly from the magnitude of the imbalance indicated. The measurement valves arising from two measurement cycles - one performed using an additional wt. - are placed in a memory. The difference valves between the measurements are subsequently formed and the imbalance indication adjusted according to the magnitude of the auxiliary wt. using a sensitivity adjuster. The sensitivity adjustment is performed automatically. It is possible always to use the same additional wt.
