The rotary i.e. engine comprises a segment-shaped cylinder block (1), which is secured via radial lever (8) to the central output shaft, and a segment-shaped rotor (2), which is carried by a radial lever (7) rotatable on the shaft. It has a part- toroidal piston (6) engaging a correspondingly shaped cylinder chamber (5) in the block. The inlet to the cylinder chamber is via ducts through the shaft, the first radial lever and cylinder block. The chamber has an exhaust port (10), arranged as for a two-stroke engine. A spring, arranged between the block and the rotor causes the latter to lag behind, reverse rotation being prevented so that the spring causes cyclic compression.
