摘要
Two-dimensional t.v is converted into three-dimensional vision using the same principle as printed postcards having an overlay of a plastics sheet whose surface consists of a large number of vertically serrated prismatic lines. Each 'line' is in effect a prism with a base width of a fraction of a millimeter accurately covering two neighbouring vertical printing lines. The left slanted side of the prism, and therefore also the left printing line, can only be seen by the left eye, the right slanted printing line, can only be seen by the left eye, the right slanted prism side, and therefore also the right printing line of the pair, by the right eye. By producing the pairs of printing lines from pictures gives a genuine three-dimensional impression. An overlay of a similar plastics sheet grated by vertical prism lines on a t.v tube screen could provide three- dimensional t.v. The only adaptations required would be the conversion from horizontal to vertical scanning in receivers and cameras, and cameras would have two optical systems instead of one.
