The electrode has a flexible connection lead comprising a conductor (2) surrounded by an insulating sheath (1), with an electrode head attached to its distal end. The latter conductor is a combination of metal fibres and textile fibres formed into a twisted or flocked yarn or fleece. Pref. the conductor is formed as an outer layer around a core provided by an elastic tube (3) containing a wire spiral (4) with an internal hollow space (5) through which a mandrin can be passed. The conductor can be held loosely between the core (3, 4) and the insulating sheath or it may be firmly secured to either or both. The electrode is designed so that the connection between the electrode head and the pacemaker remains intact in spite of heart movement and body fluids.
