The space heater is intended for workshop halls, etc. and utilizes the steam laden process air, passed through a heat exchanger (3) for heating fresh air. The latter is in the form of a mixing register, to which is connected a mixing tank (8), a drier (9), and a mixing chamber (10) in series. The mixing chamber is also connected to a supply duct (11) which exhausts air from the roof space. Preferably a duct (12) for hot fresh air is also connected to the mixing tank. A control flap (7) opens the inlets to this duct and to the heat exchanger in response to demand.
