The method is for heat treatment of a prod. mixt. comprising a liq. contg. solid parts. The mixt. is heated to a certain desired temp. in one or more heat exchangers and is held in a heat retention section for a certain time. It is then cooled in one or more heat exchangers to the desired final temp. The length of time the solids remain in the heat retention section is adjusted independently of the time the liq. remains there. Meanwhile, the solids are continuously streamed through the liq. The length of time is adjusted w.r.t. the size of the solid parts.
