Swirl type centrifugal separator for flowing gas - has agglomerator blades upstream of inclined radial swirl producing blades

Appts. for rotary sepn. (centrifugal sepn.) of droplets from a gas stream comprises a cylindrical duct (1) through which the gas flows, a surrounding collecting chamber (4,5), and a twist generator in the form of a central torpedo (6) with radial inclined blades (3) extending from it to the wall of the duct. Collecting channels (9) at the upper or downstream end of these blades lead to openings (12) through which the collected droplets discharge into the annular space (4); downstream of these blades and this torpedo there are also separator slits (7) leading into the annular collecting space. Upstream of the twist generator there are agglomerator blades (16,17), consisting of an upstream flow plate (16)and a downstream plate (17) cranked at an angle to it. The appts. is considerably more compact than previous devices, without the adverse effect of an additional pressure drop through it.
