Grinding wheel truing and dressing system - uses alternative drives and dressing tools, with specified speeds and gear ratios

The method of dressing grinding wheels of various shapes uses one or more dressing tools and drives for the grinding wheel and the tools. The rotary speeds are given by a set of formulae for optimum effect. The gear systems used for the drives are also determined by another set of formulae to give the required speed ratios of the gear trains for the tools. Various drives include a motor for the grinding wheel and separate motors for the tools, using also gear trains or belt drives. An electrical coupling system can also be used. Various types of dressing tools with method of using them are described.
