The rider-weight for a cable from an anchored craft to its anchor on the seabed consists of a body of high specific weight. It has an eye fitting around the cable, allowing it to be lowered or raised along this by a line from the craft. This eye is formed in the body (11) by an oblong slot (12) open at one end, part (12') of which can be closed off by a slider (13). The body consists of a rectangular block with, in plan, two parallel sides linked by shorter round ones. It has its CG (5) within the slot but outside the eye-portion.
