The release consists of two sections (9,2) each having a part equal diameter external surface and mating inclined and rounded surfaces (19,30,18,27) which are normally locked together by a spring (8) loaded disc (5) which slides over their common external diameters. The lower member (2) carries a rocking pawl (30) which forms part of the mating surface and serves to restrain a common latch (28,29). The members are linked to the anchor cable and anchor shank respectively and the locking is broken by lifting the disc against the spring force by an external cage (46). A light chain fastens the crown of the anchor to a lug (20) on the upper member.
