The arrangement is intended for sound-attenuation in a narrow gas flow (7) in which sound waves generate resonance via a detour through interference. In the areas of sound pressure maxima, this pressure decays by expansion into a buffer chamber (3) where its energy is largely converted into heat by sound-absorbent material (5). A splitter panel (1) may contain resonance chambers (2) which are separated by buffer chambers (3) and connect via slots (6) of 1/10 to 1/20, pref. between 1/15 and 1/30, of the wavelength to be damped whilst their mean distance to the splitter surface is 1/4 this wavelength and the chamber (3) volume is 1/4 to 2 times that of the chamber (2).
