Cable connector for insulated overhead line - has shrouded screwed terminal for insertion of insulated cable coupler

The cable connection to the overhead line consists of a cylindrical insulated housing which is used in conjunction with a screw-in coupler (11). The lower end of the housing is open but sealable by means of a stopper (3) attached to the housing by a thin flexible cord to prevent its loss when removed. A connecting bolt (5) is fixed in the upper neck (2') of the housing where it is splined to prevent turning of the housing (2). The 'L' shaped connecting bolt, which is joined to the overhead line by a tap-off clamp (8), has an insulated sheath and ends inside the housing with an external thread and flat contact surface. To connect a cable to the connection bolt (5) an insulated coupling (11) is inserted into the housing (1) and screwed home until its own internal contact surface is in firm electrical contact with the end of the bolt fed from the overhead line tap.
