The switching system, controlled by a programmed device, includes a microswitch operated by a switching arm with its bottom end resting against the microswitch and its top end controlled by a disc rotated by a timing mechanism. The microswitch can also be operated independently by a second mechanism driven from another part of the timing mechanism. The microswitch is mounted so that it can be tilted, and an arm which can be swung against its diagonally opposite corner, carries a rotary cam. This is driven by a wheel in mesh with a wheel forming the second part of the timing mechanism drive. The cam thus causes the microswitch to tilt to operate in the alternative manner.
