摘要
An electrostatically spun fibre of a polymeric material has a very porous surface structure and opt. a band-shaped profile. The polymer has an amorphous or partially oriented molecular structure. The surface structure is a component of a foamed layer, which surrounds a fibre core which is free from pores. The foam layer is very uniform in thickness, and size and distribution of the pores. It is formed from the same material as the fibre core, but has a considerably lower degree of molecular orientation, which favours the heat-welding of adjacent fibres. The pores may be open or closed. Open pores pref. have constant cross-section, are arranged at right angles to the surface, and completely penetrate the layer. Pores of this type are pref. for the infiltration of cleansing or disinfecting cpds., which widens the scope of use of the fibres in textiles. The fibre has greater strength (e.g. 2-5x that of known electrostatically spun fibres), better pore structure, better dyeability, and greater resistance to rubbing.
