Laser stimulated thermionic valve - has gas or semiconductor laser cathode plus control grid and anode

In the laser electron tube or valve, the cathode converts laser light to an electron stream for control by a grid between the cathode and top cap anode. For high power ratings a gas laser is used, and for lower power a semiconductor laser unit. The high power version comprises an anode (1), grid (2) and cathode plus strobe unit (3,4). The design has application in high energy physics, high power transmission and in cosmic research.
