Use of a mixture of calcium sulphite hemihydrate - -, and calcium sulfate dihydrate for the production of cement

Flue gas evolved in the combustion of fossil fuels is treated with a calcium-containing suspension in a scrubber to form calcium sulphite hemi-hydrate which is partly oxidized by the addition of atmospheric oxygen to form a mixture of calcium sulphate dihydrate and calcium sulphite hemi- hydrate. This mixture is used in place of natural gypsum or anhydrite as a setting regulator in the manufacture of cement.
