The solar-powered electrical generator comprises a mast (10) supporting a solar heat absorber (12), the heated flow medium used to drive the turbine (13) coupled to the generator drive shaft. The heat absorber (12) is combined with the turbine (13) and a compressor (14) to form a single unit supported from the top of the mast (10) by a rotary bearing (30). The turbine (13), the compressor (14) and the generator (15) pref. all have a common shaft. Pref. the absorber (12) comprises a ring concentrically surrounding the turbine (13) and coupled to the housing (22) enclosing the turbine (13) and the compressor (14) by supply lines (21), with take-off lines leading to a collector ring (18).
