Immersion lance for steelworks operations, for blowing gases and/or pulverulent solids into pig-iron or steel melts, with a nozzle at the front end and with means for connecting a coupling at the rear end, comprising a lance pipe and a refractory jacket which is composed of a plurality of annular cylindrical segments, wherein the foremost segment is axially secured on the lance pipe by means of a holder, and the rearmost segment, which is arranged at a spacing from the connecting means of the coupling, abuts by means of an axially yieldable intermediate element, namely a preloaded spring, on an axially adjustable releasable abutment which is connected to the lance pipe by a force-locking connection, characterized in that a clamping element (8) variable in its axial extent is provided between the abutment (5) and the yieldable intermediate element (6).
