The gas laser assembly has a shell tube, a coaxial laser capillary tube, a cathode coupled to the shell tube, mirror holders at opposite ends of the shell tube, and mirrors firmly mounted in the holders (8,8'). The latter are formed of plastic deformable metal cylinders of uniform wall thickness. Preferably each mirror holding metal cylinder is coupled to a sealed mirror casing (9,9'), each holding firmly a mirror (7,7'). The mirror casing may have an annual protrusion (12,12') for the mirror adjustment. The mirror holders are typically of a Kovar alloy (RTM). Alternately they may be made from oxygen-free copper. One end of the laser capillary tube may extend beyond an end of the shell tube. One mirror holder may be coupled to the other end of the shell tube, while a second mirror holder may be coaxially connected to the outer end of the capillary tube.
