Bearing lubrication for piston machine - uses crescent shaped pocket in rotating shaft locating pedestal to provide pumped oil for forced lubrication

A lubrication pump includes a rotating shaft (1) with a very fine surface finish. A bearing block (2) which supports the shaft, is provided with a crescent shaped pocket (3) that is axially sealed. The pocket is produced by different curvatures for shaft and pocket groove. Where the shaft enters the pocket, an oil suction hole (6), linked to a reservoir (8) in the pump housing (15), is provided. At the exit side of the pocket (3) the oil which is dragged along by the shaft is squeezed out through a slot (10) into a lubrication supply line.
