Flexible hoses with good internal flow characteristics (for streamlined flow) have the reinforcement fitted externally around the hose. This reinforcement may be flat. The reinforcing members may have various cross-sections. In particular the dia. of the reinforcement and that of the hose are equal. The disadvantages resulting from an internal reinforcing spiral within the hose are eliminated.
