The heat exchange device such as an absorber, resorber evaporator, condenser etc. operating on the counterflow principal, has a tube bundle with members inside the tubes (28) to reduce the internal volume of the tubes. These throttling members cause the flow to take place only over the tube walls, for greater heat transfer, and efficiency. The members can be hollow tubes (24) supported inside the outer tubes by radial spacers (26) and their ends (30) are closed. Alternatively, solid rods which may be triangular in section can be used, supported by their edges. These hollow or solid members are of plastics material.
