The valve has an expansion element which can be heated via an auxiliary heating device supplied selectively from a central control for remote setting of the valve. The expansion element pref. comprises a container having an expansion medium and responsive to the room temp. to restrict the flow through the valve to maintain the required room temp. selected via a manual setting knob. The auxiliary heating device acts on this container or is inserted through it to act directly on the expansion medium. The current for the heating device is supplied to selected valves by a common central control with a timer clock, or e.g. to allow the selected room temp. to be overridden for nighttime operation.
