Method of producing a shoe with integrally moulded sole, where the edge of the sole is surrounded by a strip projecting slightly above the sole upper face, is as follows. This strip has an inward curling beading at its upper edge, and the strip is inserted in the casting mould, it thus closes the upper mouth of the mould, into which the shoe upper, mounted on its last, is pressed. The upper and last force the strip against the inner face of the mould, the elastically deformable beading assisting in forming a seal. The sole is then integrally cast between the upper and the base of the mould. Pref. the combination of last and shoe upper presses an inner sole against the sealing beading of the surrounding strip. In a variant a pref. plastics support sheet is placed inside the mould to bear against the surrounding strip, before the mould itself is filled with the sole material. The inner surface of the main frame of the casting mould pref. has a cut-back or groove, into which the upper edge or beading of the strip can be pressed.
