Low temp. sediment (I) consists of a low boiling liquefied gas (II) of the N2,Ar and O2 gp. and a solid gas (III) of the CO2 and N2O gp. It can also contain a third component (IV) of the water, glycerol and alcohol gp. (I) is produced by expanding compressed gaseous CO2 to form CO2 ice and mixing with liq. N2. (I) is specified for use as refrigerant and vehicle for dangerous substances and O3. It has the low temp. of (II) and also the adhesion of (III) to complicated surfaces and has economical advantages.
