The multi-stage compressor unit comprises a housing containing a screw compressor having two parallel meshing screw rotors. One is driven via gearing and a centrifugal compressor arranged upstream of the screw compressor. The shaft of the driven screw rotor carries a gear wheel meshing with a pinion on the shaft driving the impeller of the first compressor stage. The screw rotors, gearing and centrifugal compressor are arranged in a common housing. The screw compressor drive is pref. arranged on the side away from the centrifugal compressor. Oil may be injected into the outlet duct of the centrifugal compressor.
