The invention relates to a method and circuit arrangement for transmitting data signals and signalling information between data terminals (DTE) and, where appropriate, exchanges (VSt) of a telecommunications network. In terms of the telecommunications network, it is based on the principle that the data signals are transmitted via 64 kbit/s individual channels (NK) and the signalling information is transmitted via 8 kbit/s signalling channels (SK) which are separated from the former.
