For the storage of drinking or service water, an underground water tank comprising large pipes is described in the filed patent. Tanks of this type are used, for drinking or service water, in the supply of water to individual objects or in large-scale water-supply systems. The water tank of the application is, unlike the tanks which chiefly comprise solid structures, designed with industrially manufactured large pipes with identical connecting shafts. The flow through the tank is uniform owing to the meander-shaped outline and the tank has no unused areas. One or more water chambers connected in parallel can be erected, and it is also possible to plan and design the tank in one or more structural portions. The construction work permits a relatively small construction area since only prefabricated parts are used. The building pit can be kept small since it is possible to lay the runs of pipe one by one and only the building pit required for a single pipe run thus has to be provided. IMAGE
