Transverse-sectioning unit with flying shears for sheet-metal strip, the jaw of which shears is moved at strip run-off speed in the run-off direction the instant the cutting movement is performed. Apart from the cut-off blades, the two halves of the jaw of the shears each have a universal clamping plate for fastening a top die and bottom die respectively, with which punching cuts, slanting cuts, undulating cuts, beads, embossments, etc., can be made in the sheet-metal section at the same time as the cutting operation so that, instead of sheet-metal sections to be stacked, complete cuts and also finished parts are already produced. It is not necessary to submit sheet-metal sections for further processing in presses.
