Separation apparatus, composed of essentially rectangular carrier plates and membrane blanks of a semipermeable membrane, for fluids

A filtration cell or diffusion cell for the treatment of fluids and composed of carrier plates and membrane blanks of a semipermeable membrane is sealed by string-like or strip-like sealing elements for separate conduction of the fluids. The carrier plates (1, 2) having channels (13, 14, 13', 14'), open to the plane of the plate, for receiving the sealing elements, and having through-holes (11, 12) in these channels, which through-holes communicate at least in sections and receive a sealing material (15) introduced in the flowable state and solidifying therein. A plurality of carrier plates (1, 2) are joined by the sealing material (15) to form a cassette-like unit and form the actual separation apparatus. In the case of carrier plates (1, 2) square in plan view, the flow is crosswise over the front side and rear side of the membrane blanks. The membrane blanks are supported by grooves and groove ribs, running in the direction of flow, of the carrier plates (1, 2), the grooves having throughways, arranged at a longitudinal distance, to the opposite side of the carrier plate (1, 2). Flow baffles crossing the grooves at about 45 DEG ensure a uniform flow over the membrane surfaces and prevent short circuit paths. IMAGE
