Polymerisation of (1,3)-butadiene to cis-poly-butadiene - with organo-cobalt and aluminium alkyl catalysts in methylene chloride-(1)-butene solvents

The polymerisation of 1:3-butadiene to cis-poly-butadiene catalysed by an organic Co cpd. - Al alkyl cpd. catalyst, is effected in a solvent contg. methylene chloride and 1-butene. Excellent rates of polymerisation with reduced amts. of catalyst are achieved. The resulting polybutadiene contains 95% cis-structure.
