The device forms a harness for fitting a shoe to a sports article such as a ski snow shoe or crampon, which uses an electronic device coupled to an electric interupter. The harness is fitted to the article, and contains device (2) which can control the harness release mechanism or form a transmitter to enable a lost or buried ski to be found over long distances or as an anti-theft device. The device has a battery (3) or cell with an interrupter (4) between it and the electronic device. This interrupter (4) is a switch which can be normally open and closed only when the shoe is in the harness or normally closed and opened by the removal of the shoe. The device ensures that the device cannot be left running when not required.
