Quay wall for canal wall construction - uses lost coffering in successive layers with reinforcements compacted in two stages

The technique is for the erection of works under water or in the air, such as quay walls, canal and basin facings or support walls. Sections are laid one above the other, of building material. Between each layer a reinforcement of cross members is and incorporated to a coffering which rises with the structure. The reinforcement is bonded and damage to the coffering prevented by putting each layer down in two stages. In the first stage, a band against the coffering all round, is left until the centre section has set. The border is then cast and compacted to a lesser degree.
