A tubular framework can be assembled from tubes joined at right angles to one another. A U-shaped clip (1) has a strengthening rib (8) around the base of the U and a hole (2) at each extremity. The clip is placed around one tube (4) and the second tube (5) is pushed through the holes. The joint is then secured by a taper key (6) which is driven into slots (7) which extend inwards from the edges of the holes. The action of the key pulls the inner surface of the clip hard against the tube (4).
