Treatment is carried out in a closed vessel under an oxygen pressure above the partial oxygen pressure in the atmos. phase. Process is effected in an appts. comprising a sealed area, means to circulate the water and means for introducing the O2-contg. gas to the required pressure. The use of a closed vessel enables increased efficiency.
