Electric locomotive storage battery charging system - has auxiliary drive on-board network voltage and frequency regulated in relation to battery charge voltage

A method is used for charging storage batteries on electric prime movers, locomotives etc. The locomotive has a separate phase on-board mains network for auxiliary drive. The charging is performed during operation of the trolley or contact wire. The circuitry makes a separate drive and controllable charger superfluous. The storage batteries are charged by the on-board mains network via a simple rectification circuit. The on-board mains network voltage is regulated in correspondence to the batteries charge voltage. The on-board mains network frequency is also adjusted together with the network voltage, to keep the voltage periods constant.
