Variable reluctance electrical machine - has individual closed loop magnetic circuits instead of poles using sequentially energised inductors with vectors orthogonal to machine axis
Variable reluctance electrical machine - has individual closed loop magnetic circuits instead of poles using sequentially energised inductors with vectors orthogonal to machine axis
The variable reluctance machine has a rotor (8) and a stator (1), one provided with angularly spaced inductors (2, 3, 4) and the other with at least one pole piece (9, 10). The inductors are coupled to a circuit for energising them in sequence, so that at any instant they are magnetically isolated from one another. The displacement of the rotor (8) follows the direction of the induction vectors which are themselves orthogonal to the axis of the machine. Pref. the circuit for sequentially energising the inductors includes at least one detector for monitoring the position of the pole piece(s) relative to the latter.
