Wideband coupler-detector for millimetric wavelengths - has pick=up plate in waveguide cavity and having two parts bolted together

The coupler-detector is for measurement of millimetric and submillimetric wavelength signals transmission in a waveguide. The coupler works over a wide wave-band with minimal interruption to the signals. The coupler consists of a rectangular metal block in two parts (3, 4) bolted (5) together. One part is cut-away (1) to match the incoming waveguide and has a thin non-conducting plate (12) glued n position between the two long walls of the cavity. The plate has a structured metallised surface leading to an output connection(2) immediately above and in-line with with the plate.
