A central unit (1) has an associated keyboard (2) to permit entering of data and a display unit (3) which allows display of results of the processing of the data by the central unit. A non volative memory (4) provides date and time information which is provided from a system clock (10) with a quartz crystal (11) in the oscialltor circuit. A power supply (5) is connected to the central unit via a switch (6) with an electronic switch is controlled from a bistable circuit (13) to update memory data even though the normal switch may be open.
